DISCLAIMER: I'm not a medical professional in any capacity, and I don't work in healthcare. I'm a random citizen giving advice based on my own research, education, and experiences. Everything in this document should not be treated as medical or legal advice or absolute fact, but rather as one trans person's thoughts and opinions. When doctors fail us, we take things into our own hands. This is my attempt to do that, and help others who may not have better alternatives. Always do your own research. DIY safely!
This is for the people who aren't interested in abiding to the governments' pointless and abusive gatekeeping. You're in the right place. This is the guide for total beginners and experienced DIYers alike, where I'll be compilling every piece of information relating to DIY HRT I can possibly think of, in (hopefully) an easy to understand way. I've attempted to make this document both a practical, actionable outline to obtaining HRT, and an in-depth exploration of different practices, effects, and more.
I've found that almost all DIY HRT guides I've read are either quite difficult to digest, or don't cover everything a person needs to know before they self-medicate, or contain ouright misinformation. Ultimately, this website aims to demystify the wonderful medications known as HRT, and destigmatize the practice of DIYing, which is often unfairly portrayed as clandestine, unusual, and dangerous. Truth is, most trans people on this earth either rely or have relied on DIY at some point in their lives, and I believe we all deserve better than being kept in a waitlist for months or years or decades, waiting for cis doctors to "confirm" our reality, or be denied outright. You can make these decisions on your own, and you deserve informed and accessible healthcare. HRT is awesome, and I hope this guide gives you some valuable knowledge about it.
That's a good question! Why should you trust me to give you medical information? Well, you should not baselessly trust information about HRT without fact-checking it, no matter if that advice comes from random strangers, people you trust, or even doctors. Misinformation about HRT is absolutely rampant in both trans and cis spaces, so I will attempt to list all my sources to prove I'm not pulling things out of thin air. Keep in mind that this a guide based on both empirical evidence, this community's wisdom, and my own personal experience, not an ultimatum on how HRT is done.
A little bit about me is that I go by Mickey, I'm a trans man, and I've been DIYing since I was 13 years old, after spending years dealing with a system that constantly undermined me and tried to do conversion therapy on me, instead of actually giving me much-needed healthcare. I've been in the trenches of the DIY community for quite a long time, and I've helped people with their HRT both IRL and online. As I said before, I am not a doctor or medical professional, but I am experienced.
For fun, I like to listen to NIИ and My Chemical Romance, learn computer languages, bake, and play shitty roblox games. :)
I dedicate this site to my girlfriend, who inspired me to create it. I also dedicate it to all our trans siblings struggling to make it through. May you find safety, love, and peace.
Thank you L. for being my best friend from the start, and thank you T. for guiding us.
